Serpentina Hammock

Just arrived to La Rioja I was surprised to discover the publicly funded art competitions organized by the regional goverment to promote youth creativity.

And the attraction of the world of wine on a foreigner like myself encouraged me to take part in one of them, Art and Barrels, organized by the Riojan Youth Institute (IRJ), Viña Ijalba Winery and the Würth Museum.

Eight were the finalists selected to build their designs, and in the coming months they were exhibited in the Würth Museum, the opening ceremony for the Youth Center in Calahorra, and Viña Ijalba Winery, who finally kept the works.

My design, the Serpentina Hammock, tried to mix wood and iron, wine and metal, roughness and functionality. It is meant to be an outside feature, ideal to be placed between vines, at the shadow of a millenary olive tree.
