The form of the buildings is inspired by the sound wave, which changes its appearance depending on the observation point. The volume of the buildings with their reflection on the river Vistula gives a feeling of a moving sound wave. However the outlines of the buildings resemble a shape of a traditional accordion.

The site is divided into several zones:

The first one occupies the south part of the parcel with the Music Center, which contains the following buildings connected with each other:

  • Karol Szymanowski Philharmonic in Cracow
  • Academy of Music
  • Capella Cracoviensis
  • Sinfonietta Cracovia

The second area is a commercial space with a hotel, a small shopping centre and a multi-story parking. The next one focuses on history, you can find here the remains of the old Cracow´s fortress and a historic tree avenue that continues towards the river.

The last area is recreational and is divided into two sub-zones. The first one includes the green bank of the Vistula River, creating a majestic entrance to the buildings of the Music Centre and the other is located inside the plot with a rich landscape where you can enjoy nature, and a water feature, a pond with a stage in the middle for different outdoors acts, like piano concerts and vocal performances to a wide audience.

The second outdoor auditorium is for approximately 1000 spectators and is located in the north of the site, and serves not only for music acts, but also for other miscellaneous activities organized by the city of Cracow.
