Gizycko is a city in northeast Poland with around 30000 inhabitants in the touristic lake region. Located in between two of them, Lake Mamry and Lake Niegocin, the city council opened a public competition for the urban and architectonical development of a water sports centre and an urban beach.

TASka’s proposal was to integrate the water sports centre in the natural landscape while keeping the building’s own personality and original character.

We proposed a building emerging from the beach and climbing with the land, finishing in a viewing point with great views over the lake. Its shape reminds us of a harbour providing a delicate transition between the lake and the building’s two storeys.

The plot was organized in two principal axis dividing the zone and a green roof that joins the main building with the auxiliar services building in the beach which includes changing rooms, resting areas and commercial space.

Other commercial buildings raise from the surface much alike the main water centre and are transformed into a big viewing point opening to the beach and the lake, covered in greenery and wood.
